Lace up your sneakers and get ready to walk to school tomorrow - even if you don't usually. It's a great day to give it a try.
Our regular walking school buses (see map below) are doing an extra run this Wednesday - normally, they run every Friday. If you're not on one of those routes, just walk yourself.
All walkers and bikers should check in at the table on the playground before the first bell. You'll find us near the middle set of doors. We'll have handstamps for kids and lots of bubbles and chalk.
Email Brooke Doyle with questions (brookedoyleATyahoo.com).
Happy Walking!

iWalk Day 2014 is fast approaching - 10/8!
As you plan your week, don't forget Wednesday, October 8, is iWalk Day. Kids all over the world will be celebrating walking to school. We'll run our regular walking school buses that day. Hop on a walking school bus or just walk yourself. We'll have some festivities on the playground for walkers - hand stamps, lollipop signs, bubbles, chalk. If walking isn't your normal routine, give it a try on Wednesday. You and your bee might just love it!
Visit here on Tuesday for finalized routes.

Two Routes Begin Friday, 9/5
Two buses will begin on Friday, 9/5! No need to sign up if you want to be on the bus - just be at the stop at the assigned time, and they'll pick you up. Parents can join the bus and meet other parents or drop off if that's more convenient. Route leaders have vests and flags for safety.
If you are interested in starting an additional route, email: Brooke Doyle - brookedoyleATyahoo.com. We'd love to have one or two more routes. A route needs 2 leaders who are willing to share the leadership and be able to walk on Fridays. There is one interested leader who will start near Greenwood Park but needs a partner.

We're back in 2012, and are looking forward to another successful year of Moving on Friday mornings. Last year more than 1/3 of the students participated in the Let's Move programs:
- Walking School Bus routes are back
- Kids can walk the track to earn points for the coveted Golden Sneakers (starting in October)
- Celebrate walking and biking to school with hundreds of other countries on International Walk to School Day on October 3
Walking School Bus
There are two active routes on the map: http://goo.gl/maps/ZkaX5 (one from the south, starting near the Phinney Center; one from the northeast, down Wallingford and across 88th).
We are looking for more route leaders! If you walk from the east (Starbucks area) or the north (Greenwood Park), let us know if you can help.
Walk the Track
Can you help count laps one Friday each month on the Bagley track?
Are you able to tally the totals and distribute charms (or other incentives) once each month?
Walk to School Day
Do you have time to help out on October 3 for iWalk Day/Let's Move kickoff? We'll have groups walking together, track walking, and hand stamps for all participants.
Seattle Kids' Marathon
Are you interested in finding out how we can incorporate the Kids' Marathon into Let's Move? We'd love to coordinate.
New Bike Racks and other improvements
Can you help prepare an easy grant application for pedestrian and cyclist improvements at school? We'll be writing this in October, and will need people to tally # bikes each day for a week or two.
